West Ham could keep goalkeeper Joe Hart at the club beyond the end of this season, according to the Daily Mirror.

The newspaper claim that the Hammers are open to agreeing a permanent deal with Manchester City for the 31-year-old’s services in the summer.

The Daily Mirror report that Hart, who is currently on loan at the Hammers, has impressed manager David Moyes with his recent performances against Southampton and Chelsea.

It is also believed that Moyes is keen on the goalkeeper after witnessing his professional response to being dropped in favour of Adrian earlier in the season.

Hart joined the Hammers on loan from Manchester City at the start of the season, and is due to return to the Premier League champions after the current campaign finishes.

The Sun previously reported that it was unlikely that Hart’s £120,000-a-week Hammers deal would be renewed, and that he would return to Pep Guardiola’s side when his loan deal expires.

OPINION

Hart’s last Hammers performance, which was the game against Stoke City, was memorable for all the wrong reasons. The 31-year-old goalkeeper made a blunder during which allowed the Potters to get a goal. The match between the two sides eventually ended as a 1-1 draw, but the goalkeeper’s error could have seen his side miss out on earning a vital point. This wasn’t a rare example of a mistake either, as Hart has consistently cost his side points during the 22 appearances he has made for the Hammers this season. So it’s very bizarre that the club would even dabble with the idea of keeping the 31-year-old at the club any longer than they have to.
