Tottenham are set to make the biggest mistake of the summer transfer window if they fail to stop attacker Reo Griffiths walking away from the club.

The Daily Mirror reported on Tuesday that the 17-year-old forward is still yet to commit his future to the club, despite Spurs attempting to hold onto him, and he could depart London at the end of the season.

Griffiths clearly has a bright future in football and the teenager has grabbed everyone’s attention this season with his prolific form in Spurs’ youth setup.

The centre-forward has scored 19 goals in 17 appearances in the U-18s Premier League this season, as well as grabbing a goal in the UEFA Youth League during the current campaign.

If Spurs fans wanted any more reason to drool over his potential, Griffiths gave them another performance to wax lyrical about on Tuesday.

The teenage forward scored an impressive four goals, while providing three assists, to help his side thrash bitter rivals Arsenal 9-0 in the mini north London derby.

ESPN FC previously reported that RB Leipzig were keeping an eye on the Spurs youngster, and they’re probably not the only European giant lurking in the wings ready to pounce if the teenager’s contract situation isn’t sorted.

Therefore Spurs chairman Daniel Levy has to act fast to get Griffiths to put pen to paper on a new long-term contract as it would be a huge mistake for him to leave anytime soon.

The 17-year-old could potentially be another Harry Kane in the future, based on the potential he has showcased so far in his young career, and it would be a travesty if he proved his promise at another club.

So with not long left to go until the summer, Levy must personally intervene with contract negotiations as soon as possible to ensure that the talented teen stays at Spurs.

Otherwise if he fails in his quest to keep Griffiths where he is, Tottenham will easily be making the biggest mistake of the summer transfer window.
