Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino must axe Heung-Min Son from Spurs’ first-team after the winger put in an awful performance against Manchester United on Saturday.

The 25-year-old winger was having no luck against Man United and could do nothing to stop his side crashing out of the FA Cup.

Jose Mourinho’s side defeated Spurs 2-1 at Wembley in the FA Cup semi-final to ensure that it would be another trophy-less season for Pochettino’s side.

While Son didn’t single handily get his side knocked out, the left-winger put in a forgettable performance that didn’t help his side’s cause.

This isn’t the first time in recent weeks that the 25-year-old’s display has suggested that he needs to be dropped, with the winger being ineffective during the match against Stoke City.

Son’s form clearly has dipped and it could be due to the fact, he’s suffering from burnout after playing out of his skin in the 48 appearances he has made this season.

The 25-year-old was firing on all cylinders for the majority of this campaign, scoring 18 goals while creating 10 in his outings.

Son was clearly one of the standout players of Spurs’ season, but that doesn’t mean he deserves to keep his place in the side based on past performances.

With tiredness probably being the reason for Son’s downturn in form, axing him from the team for Spurs’ next game against Watford could not only improve the team, but benefit him in the long run.

The 25-year-old knows that there will be a lot of pressure on him to perform at the World Cup for South Korea in the summer and knows he must be at his best to help his nation.

Therefore while Son may have previously dazzled everyone that has had the privilege to watch him play this season, Pochettino must drop him from his team for Spurs’ next game after his terrible display on Saturday.
