Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino has well and truly thrown his toys out of his pram by claiming that he will field a young Spurs team in next year’s FA Cup.

Spurs crashed out of this year’s FA Cup on Sunday as they lost 2-1 to Manchester United in their semi-final at Wembley on Sunday.

The FA Cup was Spurs’ last chance of lifting silverware this season, and due to their elimination, Pochettino was criticised for finishing another season empty handed.

Instead of admitting his failure or calmly responding to questions about his performance as manager, the Spurs boss opted to claim that he will play a youthful side in the knockout tournament next season in order to avoid criticism.

“I am thinking with Tottenham to play with kids the next time because it’s so unfair when you lose but that is my job to be criticised when we don’t win,” Pochettino said, as quoted by the Daily Mail.

“The problem is the perception sometimes is not realistic. But maybe yes, next we will provide the possibility to play with kids and I’m sure it will be fantastic for experience and everything.

‘Then we stop to arrive in this situation (of being questioned about not winning trophies).”

Pochettino’s comments imply that he is throwing a tantrum over his position as manager being questioned by the media, and it’s unnecessary.

The Spurs boss needs to have thicker skin than that when it comes to criticism as there will always be someone ready to slam his decisions, whether he’s successful or not.

Pundits have even briefly questioned Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola at times during this season, despite the manager leading his team to two trophies.

Therefore based on his claim it seems Pochettino, at least temporarily, is in the process of throwing his toys out of his pram due to his side’s failure to win the FA Cup this season.
