Newcastle United have deployed scouts to watch midfielder Okay Yokuslu as Trabzonspor take on Osmanlispor in the Turkish Super Lig on Monday evening, according to Turkish Football

The football outlet report that Trabzonspor are open to letting the 24-year-old depart this summer for the right price, with several clubs keeping tabs on his progress.

Turkish Football claim that Newcastle scouts will watch Yokuslu on Monday, with the versatile 6ft 3in midfielder likely to be deployed in defence, where he has played a few times this season.

It is said that West Ham and Besiktas are also interested in the Turkey international.

Yokuslu has been called the ‘Turkish Sergio Busquets’ by Spanish press, with his style at defensive midfield similar to the Barcelona star.

Good move for Newcastle United?

Yes.

Newcastle will need strengthening in the midfield area this summer if they are to progress into a regular fixture in the top-half of the Premier League table, and Yokuslu would be a good option.

The ‘Turkish Busquets’ has been in impressive form this season for Trabzonspor, and looks ready to make a step up in competition.

At 24 years old there is also still room for improvement in his game, with Rafa Benitez a great manager to work under.

Likely to happen?

It looks like the Magpies are putting themselves in pole position to sign the midfielder, but it is yet to be seen if they will make a concrete move for him.

There are also other clubs lurking, so there will no doubt be competition for his signature if they do decide to swoop.
