Brighton & Hove Albion defender Liam Rosenior has heaped praise on the job Jurgen Klopp has done at Liverpool.

The 33-year-old, who has featured three times for the Seagulls in the league this season, shared in his latest column for The Guardian that he been impressed by how Klopp had handled the exit of Philippe Coutinho.

“I cannot remember a time when Liverpool have been in such a strong position and fans so hopeful in the short and long term to fight for the top trophies at home and in Europe,” wrote Rosenior in his newspaper column.

“The narrative which Klopp has superbly orchestrated is a story about the victory of team functionality, philosophy and identity where the importance of team chemistry, understanding of individual roles within a system and collectivism is evident.

“Klopp has shown that you can improve a side while selling your best player if you cater to the needs of your most productive players in the way that you play and it is no coincidence that the signing of Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has tactically enabled the likes of Sadio Mané, Roberto Firmino and the outstanding Mo Salah to be even more of a threat.”

Rosenior continued praising Klopp for the way he had used Chamberlain in his team, and took time to reveal that he admired the German manager for picking players he trusted, rather than those the club spent a lot of money on.

The 33-year-old then claimed that Klopp’s use of cheaper players would keep everyone involved with the club happy, before sharing that he was excited to see what the future held for the Reds.

“This is managerial genius and it not only keeps the fans happy but also the directors and shareholders who are always checking the club spreadsheets!” said Rosenior.

“This Liverpool journey has only just begun and I am excited to see where it ends both this season and in years to come.”

OPINION

Klopp deserves so much praise for the way he has managed Liverpool this season, as he has done a tremendous job. The Reds may not be sitting top of the Premier League, but they could still realistically lift the Champions League trophy by the end of the season. There were few people that would had predicted European success for the Reds this season, and even fewer that would have suggested it was possibility once Coutinho left. The Brazilian playmaker was allowed to join Barcelona for £142million, as reported by the BBC, in January and most other clubs would have crumbled without him. However Klopp’s ability to transform players for the better, such as Chamberlain, made his departure have no real affect on the club.
