Liverpool are close to agreeing a deal for Norwich playmaker James Maddison, according to Anfield Edition.

The news outlet claims that the 21-year-old expects to join the Merseyside club over the summer and link up with close friend Trent Alexander-Arnold.

It is understood that the attacking midfielder has impressed Reds manager Jurgen Klopp this campaign following his performances in the Championship.

The England Under-21 international has bene in brilliant form at Carrow Road this season, scoring 15 goals and supplying 11 assists in 46 appearances across all competitions.

Good move for Liverpool?

Maddison is one of the best upcoming English talents and he has dazzled in the Championship.

He certainly looks strong enough to make the step up to the top flight and usually plays in the number 10 role behind the striker.

The attacker is technically gifted and has the potential to develop into a seriously good player under Klopp.

Maddison’s future appears to lie away from Norwich given the club have missed out on promotion for another season and he is being tipped for great success.
