Liverpool have agreed in principle to give Real Madrid midfielder Dani Ceballos a four-year contract, according to Calciomercato.

The Italian football news outlet claim that the Reds had intensified contract talks with the 21-year-old’s agents in recent weeks and have been able to agree a deal in principle.

Calciomercato report that Ceballos previously thought he was on his way to AC Milan in the summer, but Jurgen Klopp’s intervention could now see him head to Anfield instead.

It is believed that Juventus are also interested in the central midfielder, but they are put off by the fact that Real Madrid are demanding £34.8 million for his services.

Good move for Liverpool?

Yes.

Ceballos is a technically gifted midfielder who has struggled to break into a very talented Real Madrid side.

The 21-year-old has the potential to increase the Reds’ already great attacking threat and his arrival in the summer would really signal the club’s intent to go for the Premier League title next season.

With Ceballos still being relatively young, being able to sign a player of his quality for £34.8million would be a brilliant piece of business by the club.

Likely to happen?

Ceballos has only featured 10 times in La Liga this season under Zinedine Zidane, and will surely move in the summer to get first-team football next season.

If Calciomercato are to be believed, they can be very hit and miss, then it’s very likely that the midfielder will be at Anfield next season.

However it’s hard to find a flaw in their report, as it’s very likely that the Reds would be willing to pay £34.8million for such a talented player.
