Everton owner Farhad Moshiri would be making a huge mistake if he hires Arsene Wenger to be the Toffees’ next manager – as it would hardly be an appointment made with the future in mind.

The Daily Telegraph linked Wenger with the position of being the Merseyside club’s next manager on Saturday as they reported that the Toffees were Wenger’s best chances of staying in the Premier League.

The newspaper claimed that Moshiri is a huge admirer of Wenger after previously being a shareholder at the Gunners.

The 68-year-old manager is set to end his 22-year-reign as Arsenal manager at the end of the season, as confirmed by the Gunners via their official website on Friday.

This realistically means that the experienced Premier League manager, who has not only won England’s top-flight league title three times but has lifted The FA Cup on seven occasions, could be looking for a team to manage in the summer.

Wenger is clearly a serial winner as he has more often than not added some silverware to the trophy cabinet at the Emirates in the majority of the seasons he has been in charg, and the experienced boss could continue that run by winning the Europa League this season.

It seems likely that Moshiri will be on the hunt to replace Sam Allardyce as the former England boss is clearly unloved by fans and hardly comes across like he will bring the good times back to Goodison Park.

But despite his personally fondness for Wenger, the Toffees owner cannot hire him as it only focuses on the short-term, when they need to be looking to the future.

Wenger’s CV is packed with impressive achievements but with the manager being 68-years-old, it is unknown how many seasons he will continue to work for.

The Toffees need to hire a young talented manager who will not only inspire fans by the way his teams plays, but by the stability he would bring to the club.

Stability is the key to success in the Premier League as too many changes surrounding a club, causes nothing but turmoil.

Moshiri has already seen Ronald Koeman depart the club, so if Allardyce departs and an aging Wenger arrives, it may be too many changes in quick succession for any foundation for success to be built on.

The Toffees owner should be aware based on his team’s performances this season, that too many changes cause problems not success as they welcomed too many players in the transfer window last summer.

Therefore if Moshiri acts on his admiration for Wenger by hiring him, the future will be nothing but bleak for the Toffees.
