Arsenal fans on social media shared their delight over a report that suggested Patrick Vieira could succeed Arsene Wenger as manager of the club.
The Daily Mail reported on Thursday that Vieira is a serious contender to be the next manager of the Gunners, with the London club searching out candidates to replace Wenger.
The newspaper claimed that after 22-years at the club, there were indications that Wenger might step down from his role as manager, as the number of fans wanting him to leave had grown.
Gunners supporters have been noticeably unhappy this season as a top-four finish in the Premier League is already out of reach, despite there being games left to play.
However the Gunners could still lift the Europa League trophy this season, which would see them qualify for next season’s Champions League.
Wenger’s side are set to take on Atletico Madrid in the semi-finals of the competitions, with the first-leg taking place next Thursday.
The Daily Mail’s report also stated that even if Wenger fails to win the Europa League, he will not be sacked as manager due to his excellent relationship with the club’s majority shareholder, Stan Kroenke.
Even though Wenger is unlikely to be dismissed from the club, fans still took to Twitter to share their delight over the idea that former Gunners midfielder Vieira could be their next manager.
One tweeted to praise the work Vieira had done as manager of New York City, where he currently works, while another said his arrival would make the atmosphere at the Emirates immense.

Although vieria lacks real management experience.
