Newcastle United will need to improve their attacking options in the summer transfer window and West Brom ace Salomon Rondon is a name that should appear on their targets.

The Magpies look set for another season in the top flight after they moved 10 points clear of the drop zone on Saturday with a 2-1 away win over Leicester City.

However, Rafael Benitez’s side still have major work to do ahead of next season and a telling statistic is that Ayoze Perez is their top scorer this season with six goals.

Newcastle should consider a move for a proven Premier League goalscorer and switching their attention to the Baggies could be a smart move.

BBC Sport correspondent Ian Dennis has reported on his personal Twitter account that Salomon Rondon has an £8million release clause in his contract as West Brom are on the brink of relegation.

The Magpies would be insane not to throw their name into the hat for the forward colossus that could be a real success at St James’ Park.

His reported £8million price tag would be an absolute steal and it seems unlikely the player would want to be in the Championship next season with his currently club.

Rondon is a centre-forward renowned for his physical presence and has proven himself to be very strong in the air.

The powerhouse has nine goals in all competitions this campaign for a struggling West Brom team and there is no reason he couldn’t improve those numbers under Benitez.

Newcastle need with some reinforcements in attack next year and taking a punt on Rondon seems wise given his Premier League experience.
