Aston Villa are interested in signing RC Strasbourg forward Stephane Bahoken, according to France Football.

The French football outlet claim that the Villans are keen to sign the centre-forward, who is just over 6ft tall, but will have to compete with Stoke City, Swansea City and Udinese for his signature.

France Football report that Bahoken’s contract is set to expire in June and that he has his heart set on a move to England.

The 25-year-old forward has already been in contact with several top-flight clubs in England, according to France Football’s report, but the news outlet doesn’t specify who.

Bahoken has been in clinical form this season, scoring six goals in 14 league starts to help Strasbourg sit 16th in Ligue 1.

The forward’s impressive performances during the current campaign saw him earn his first international cap, with Cameroon opting to play him against Kuwait in March.

Good move for Aston Villa?

Yes, very much so.

Steve Bruce’s side need to improve their attacking options in the summer and Bahoken is the ideal player for them to sign.

The 25-year-old’s height and physical presence allows him to bully defences in order to create opportunities for himself.

This season Bahoken has shown that he has a great eye for a goal, so with the player set to be available on a free, it could be a brilliant signing by the club.

Likely to happen?

The forward has his heart set on a move to England and his contract is expiring, so there’s a good chance that the Villans will be able to sign him.

However Bruce’s side will need to see off tough competition, from the Potters and the Swans.

It’s unknown which league any of these three will be in next season, with the Swans looking the most likely to be in England’s top-flight for the next campaign as it stands.

The race for Bahoken’s signature could all come down to which of the English sides interested in him end up in the Premier League next season.
