West Ham are keeping tabs on Basel forward Mohamed Elyounoussi ahead of a potential summer swoop for the Norway international, according to the Mirror.

The newspaper claim that Premier League relegation rivals Southampton are also tracking the 23-year-old, with both clubs weighing up summer moves for the £15m-rated attacker.

The Mirror report that Elyounoussi’s reputation is sky-high in England after his man-of-the-match performance in Basel’s shock 2-1 win over Manchester City in the Champions League.

Elyounoussi ripped City apart as he scored the Swiss side’s first before setting up their second, with Basel crashing out of the competition 5-2 on aggregate.

Good move for West Ham?

Yes.

Elyounoussi has performed at a high standard on a consistent basis for Basel, and the young forward looks ready for the next step in his career.

It looks as though Premier League clubs have begun to sit up and take notice of the 23-year-old, and West Ham would do well to beat off the competition for his signature this summer.

Likely to happen?

It does look as though Elyounoussi will be on his way this summer.

The forward has been at Basel for two seasons now and the attention he is receiving will inevitably lead to an exit.

Whether that move will be to the London Stadium is hard to tell right now, but £15million is a very modest price for any Premier League club right now.
