West Ham fans on social media were not quick to praise their club over plans to reportedly hire a director of football in the summer.

The London Evening Standard reported on Tuesday that Hammers co-owner David Sullivan would be less involved with the club’s transfer dealings in the summer as the club were going to hire an experiences director of football to handle their transfer business.

The newspaper claimed that Sullivan, Karren Brady and David Gold had all agreed to hire a director of football after fans had criticised the club’s recruitment policy.

It is believed that the club would wait until the summer to appoint a director of football as they’re waiting to see if David Moyes will remain as the Hammers manager.

ExWHUemployee, who is a reliable source for exclusive West Ham insider information on Twitter, confirmed that the newspaper’s report was correct and added that the club had already identified the person they wanted to hire.

After hearing the news, one Hammers supporter tweeted that the decision to appoint a director of football had come four seasons too late.

While another fan shared that they thought the club probably wouldn’t be able to get who they wanted anyway.
