Manuel Lanzini could miss West Ham’s crucial clash with Southampton after picking up a knock while on international duty, according to the Daily Mail.

The newspaper claim that the Hammers 25-year-old is not fully fit and skipped training with his Argentinian teammates on Sunday due to the injury.

The Daily Mail report that the injury could see him miss Argentina’s friendly game against Spain on Tuesday and that David Moyes’ side are having to monitor his injury from afar.

Lanzini has featured 23 times for the Hammers this season, scoring three goals while creating eight assists and is seen as a key player at the club.

The Hammers’ next game against the Saints is important as Moyes’ side currently sit only two points above them in the table.

If Mark Hughes’ side win they will move above the Hammers in the league and send them into the relegation zone.

Poor Moyes, he is just getting no luck with injuries at the moment. The Hammers boss needs all his best players for the game against the Saints and that includes Lanzini. The 25-year-old playmaker is arguably the club’s greatest creative threat, and others will need to step up if he misses the game. Hammers supporters will no doubt be even more frustrated about Lanzini’s injury than any other, as he suffered the set-back while away on international duty. Ahead of getting injured, the 25-year-old had been impressive for his nation in their game against Italy on Friday, with him even managing to grab a goal during his side’s 2-0 victory.
