Tottenham are interested in signing Dimitri Oberlin and Amadou Haidara from RB Salzburg, according to Salzburger Nachrichten.

The Austrian newspaper claim that Spurs have Oberlin on their wishlist and are interested in Haidara after observing him for a significant period of time.

Salzburger Nachrichten report that Oberlin could move to FC Basel in the summer, where he is currently on loan, as the agreement between the two clubs includes a £8.7million purchase option.

The 20-year-old centre-forward has impressed in the 31 appearances he has made for the  Swiss club, with Oberlin even scoring four goals in his eight Champions League outings this season.

Spurs’ other target Haidara has played 42 times in the heart of RB Salzburg’s midfield this season to help his side sit top of the Austrian Bundesliga.

Good move for Tottenham?

Yes.

Spurs are in need of finding a centre-forward capable of covering for Harry Kane, when he is absent from the team, and Oberlin is the perfect option.

RB Salzburg were originally planning to sell him for £8.7million, seeing as that was the pre-agreed price with Basel, but if he doesn’t move to the Swiss club, Spurs may need to pay a little more to seal the deal.

Haidara would also be a welcomed addition to Mauricio Pochettino’s side, as the 20-year-old central midfielder is the ideal long-term replacement for Moussa Dembele.

Likely to happen?

Salzburger Nachrichten’s report states that there are a lot of top European clubs circling their talented players, so Spurs would face competition in their pursuit of either player.

Especially when it comes to Oberlin, as Basel will no doubt take up their purchase option to sign the talented hotshot.

Though it’s worth noting that the Austrian newspaper also reveal that RB Leipzig have already showed an interest in Haidara.

However both players will no doubt be tempted by the idea of a move to the Premier League and that could help Spurs in their quest to sign them.
