Tottenham supporters took to social media to urge Mauricio Pochettino to play Victor Wanyama against Bournemouth after learning that Eric Dier suffered an injury against Juventus.

Spurs’ official Twitter account revealed on Friday that Dier sustained an elbow injury during the 2-1 defeat to Juventus on Wednesday and was undergoing an assessment in order to determine whether he could play against the Cherries on Sunday.

The 24-year-old midfielder has regularly featured for Spurs this season and has made 40 appearances across all competitions during this campaign.

Despite being a regular fixture of their side, Spurs supporters weren’t too disappointed to hear that he might miss Sunday’s game.

Several fans saw the 24-year-old’s injury as the perfect opportunity for Mauricio Pochettino to hand Wanyama a chance to feature.

One supporter tweeted that the 26-year-old Kenyan international deserved to start ahead of Dier regardless of whether the midfielder was fit.

While another fan on Twitter didn’t acknowledged Dier’s setback but simply responded by urging everyone to welcome Wanyama back into the team.

The 26-year-old central midfielder has only made 15 appearances this season for Spurs, due to spending the majority of the season unavailable due to a knee injury.
