Tottenham Hotspur have announced that the Brazil national team will use their newly-completed Lodge as a training base before the World Cup this summer, and fans have taken to Twitter to react hilariously to the news.
As reported on the club’s official website, the Selecao will arrive at Hotspur Way on the 28th of May, using the facilities for around 11 days before departing for the World Cup in Russia on the 8th of June.
The Lodge has just been completed on the site of Myddleton Farm, situated right next to the club’s training centre, and provides accommodation as well as training facilities ‘whilst retaining the farm’s key features and heritage.’
Brazil have been drawn in Group E in the upcoming tournament, and are scheduled to face Costa Rica, Switzerland and Serbia in the round-robin group stages.
The Selecao reached the last-four of the last World Cup on home turf before a humbling 7-1 defeat to Germany in the semi-finals ended their hopes of a sixth world crown.
Spurs fans have taken to Twitter to joke about the news, with some calling on the club to confirm a move for the world’s most-expensive player Neymar, and others commenting on Tottenham star Lucas and his slim chances of making the squad.
