Liverpool have shown this season that they are one or two players away from becoming serious title challengers in the Premier League.

There is no doubting that the Reds have one of the most high-powered attacks in the European game, with Mo Salah, Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane forming that deadly strike force that has become so widely-feared.

However, it is further down the pitch where the side need strengthening, and if the latest report is to be believed, then Jurgen Klopp is one step ahead of his rivals in his quest for that elusive title.

Guinean journalist Alpha Balde, who was one of the first reporters to know about the Reds’ deal to take Naby Keita from RB Leipzig this summer, has claimed that they have approached Leicester over Wilfred Ndidi.

Balde reports that Ndidi has agreed to the move, but talks between the clubs are yet to begin, with the Foxes in line to demand a massive fee for the 21-year-old.

If Liverpool pull this one off, then the Reds will be that much closer to that Premier League title, and would be able to mount a serious challenge to the dominance of Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City side.

A midfield partnership made up of Keita and Ndidi would be simply unstoppable, with the duo providing a strong base for the Reds to unleash their attacking force.

The key here is that both players know how to defend and attack, with the duo contributing at both ends of the pitch for their current sides.

Liverpool’s current options in midfield come nowhere close to a partnership of Keita and Ndidi, who would be able to spearhead title pushes from midfield for years to come.

There is no doubt that Ndidi, being just 21 years old and tied to a long-term contract, will cost the Reds dearly, but that price will be well justified if they went on to win the Premier League next season.
