John Aldridge heaped praise on Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah for his performance against Watford but admitted that it would be hard for the winger to say no Barcelona or Real Madrid.

The Reds legend shared that he was running out of superlatives to describe the brilliance of the 25-year-old winger, and compared him to Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez.

“You run out of superlatives trying to describe the brilliance of Mohamed Salah,” said Aldridge in his column for the Liverpool Echo.

“His performance against Watford on Saturday was remarkable.

“The biggest compliment I can pay him is that he reminds me of Luis Suarez in 2013/14.

“There are also shades of Lionel Messi with his movement and the way he humiliates defenders.

“Suarez produced the best season I’ve ever seen from a Liverpool striker, he created a lot of goals for himself out of nothing, but I think what Salah has done this season outdoes Suarez.”

However Aldridge then admitted that Salah’s continued good performances this season, will no doubt have attracted attention from the likes of Barcelona and Real Madrid.

“There are only three clubs in world football who could afford him – Barcelona, Real Madrid and PSG,” stated the Reds legend.

“But the French league is so poor that you would only go to PSG for the money.

“It’s always hard to say no to Barcelona or Real Madrid but Salah seems like a humble guy and he certainly looks happy where he is at the moment.

“From Liverpool’s point of view, you can’t keep losing your best players and they have to do everything they possibly can to keep Salah at Anfield for as long as possible.”

Salah arrived at Anfield in the summer from AS Roma, and has scored 36 goals in 41 appearances this season.

OPINION

Aldridge is certainly a big fan of Salah, shown by him comparing the 25-year-old with Suarez and Messi. It’s easy to see why the Reds legend is impressed by the 25-year-old winger, as he has been a revelation since joining the club. Aldridge is also right to be concerned about Barcelona and Real Madrid potentially be interested in signing Salah. The 25-year-old is no doubt on both clubs’ radars and the Reds will face a tough task turning down potentially mouthwatering offers from the duo. While Aldridge believes Salah is humble, that isn’t going to stop him being tempting from joining a club that is guaranteed to win trophies.
