Liverpool have set their sights on Real Madrid’s Daniel Carvajal, according to Don Balon.

The Spanish football outlet claim that Jurgen Klopp has been impressed by the right-back’s performances this season and is keen to bring him to Anfield.

Don Balon report that the Reds would have more than enough money left over from the £142million sale of Philippe Coutinho in order to buy Carvajal from Real Madrid in the summer.

It is believed that the 26-year-old right-back wouldn’t be keen on joining the Reds, despite their strong interest in him, as he is currently living the dream by regularly playing for Real Madrid.

Carvajal has made 190 appearances for the Spanish giants and won several trophies with them, including three Champions Leagues, since joining the team from Bayer Leverkusen in 2013.

Good move for Liverpool?

No, especially as it would take up all their transfer budget for the summer.

Real Madrid will not want to sell Carvajal as he is clearly important to their team, having made 31 appearances for them this season and it would cost Liverpool a record-breaking fee in order to sign him.

The Reds don’t need a new right-back as they have plenty of capable options in that position, while the Real Madrid defender is probably better than all of them, it’s not an area that the club needs to waste money on improving at the moment.

Likely to happen?

No. Don Balon are not the most reliable source so their report about Klopp wanting to sign Carvajal can be taken with a huge pinch of salt.

The Reds are clearly not in the market for a new right-back, and the Real Madrid defender clearly has no interest in leaving his current club.

If this transfer was to happen in the summer, it would easily be one of the biggest shocks in recent windows.
