Liverpool best XI v Manchester United

|

Loris Karius (Goalkeeper) – Karius has defied expectations recently to become the club’s clear number one goalkeeper. Retains his place.

Trent Alexander-Arnold (Right-back) – Alexander-Arnold has been simply fantastic for the Reds since filling in for Joe Gomez during his injury absence. His performances have seen him become a clear choice at right-back for Liverpool despite his young age. Alexander-Arnold for Gomez.

Joel Matip (Centre-back) – Matip played alongside Dejan Lovren against Porto in midweek, and he must retain his place on Saturday.

Virgil van Dijk (Centre-back) – Van Dijk’s rocky start to his Liverpool career looks to be over, and he has single-handedly improved this Reds defence since his arrival. A partnership between him and Matip looks a solid one, and it must be them who play on Saturday. Van Dijk for Lovren.

Andy Robertson (Left-back) – Robertson was rightly rested for the Reds against Porto, but must come back in on Saturday. The Scotland international has transformed into a top player for Liverpool since a rocky start, and is the much better choice over Alberto Moreno at left-back. Robertson for Moreno.
