Everton planning summer revolution

|

Everton are planning a major overhaul this summer and manager Sam Allardyce will be let go, according to the Mirror

The newspaper report that the Toffees are looking to bring in a younger manager, and Shakhtar Donestk boss Paulo Fonseca is the leading candidate.

The Mirror claim that the changes are being led by majority shareholder Farhad Moshiri, with chairman Bill Kenwright similarly enthusiastic to enact a massive revamp.

It is said that Everton are also eyeing up PSV recruitment guru Marcel Brands, which brings Steve Walsh’s position as director of football into question.

The club will reportedly be aiming to overhaul all aspects of their operation, including scouting and technical staff as well as bringing in the Euro duo Fonseca and Brands.

OPINION

It is no surprise to see something like this in the works at Goodison Park. This season has been a disaster for the club despite them managing to avoid relegation, which looked like a real possibility when Allardyce took over. Their massive summer outlay was expected to bring them ever closer to the Premier League’s top six, but the opposite has happened, with the gap widening this season. Owner Moshiri is known to be an extremely ambitious figure, and he cannot be blamed for considering such drastic changes after this terrible season.
