Kieran Dowell admitted that he would consider leaving Everton in the summer if he didn’t feature in the club’s plans for next season.

The 20-year-old Toffees midfielder, who is currently on loan at Nottingham Forest, was asked whether there was a chance that he could join the Championship side once again next season.

“I’ll see what happens in the summer,” Dowell told the Nottingham Post.

“Obviously, if I’m in Everton’s plans then I’d love it, but if not I wouldn’t rule it out.”

The Nottingham Post report that Dowell is likely to have plenty of clubs interested in him during the summer, if the Toffees decide to loan him out once again.

The 20-year-old has featured 42 times for Forest this season, scoring 10 goals, while creating five.

OPINION

Dowell’s Toffees contract doesn’t have a lot of time left on it to run, with it expiring in 2019. The 20-year-old midfielder needs to ensure that he is in the minds of a lot of clubs, if the Toffees opt to not give him a first-team opportunity anytime soon. The Toffees will no doubt be keen to put a new contract on the table for Dowell, as the highly-rated talent looks like having a bright future in the game. However this wouldn’t be a good move for Dowell if he remains miles away from the first-team set-up. Sam Allardyce should take a chance on the Toffees starlet at least in pre-season, because the midfielder looks capable of being member of the senior squad on a regular basis.
