Middlesbrough are plotting to sign Everton’s Muhamed Besic on a permanent basis in the summer, according to the Northern Echo.

The local newspaper claim that Tony Pulis has been impressed by the 25-year-old who is currently on loan at Boro and the manager would love to have him beyond the end of this season.

The Northern Echo report that Sam Allardyce would have been happy to have sold Besic in January rather than loan him if Middlesbrough would have made the club a respectable offer.

It is believed that the Toffees would want the North-East side to pay more than £4.5million for the midfielder as that’s what the Toffees paid to sign him from Ferencvaros in 2014.

Besic, according to the Northern Echo’s report, is loving life at Middlesborough and has already become a fan favourite due to his performances in the six appearances he has made.

Good move for Everton?

In January selling Besic was the obvious decision to make, but after being so good at Middlesborough, the Toffees shouldn’t be so quick to get rid of him.

The 25-year-old is currently in impressive form and if he had been at Boro sooner than January, he probably would have helped them make the play-offs this season.

If Allardyce is really set on not giving Besic a chance at the Toffees next season, then it’s only right that the club try to cash-in on him.

Likely to happen?

Yes, especially with Besic loving his time at the Championship side.

The 25-year-old barely featured for the Toffees this season before heading out on loan, so there’s every reason to suggest that a permanent exit could happen for the midfielder.

With Besic being impressive, he may end up attracting attention from other clubs aside from Middlesborough.
