French top-flight club Monaco have joined Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain in the race for Arsenal attacker Reiss Nelson, according to Don Balon.

The Spanish football outlet claim that Monaco will be looking to be active in the summer window as PSG are expected to sign Kylian Mbappé from them for £159.4million.

Don Balon report that Leonardo Jardim’s side have been alerted to Nelson potentially being available as he is yet to sign new contract with the Gunners, despite his current deal expiring in 2019.

It is believed that the Arsene Wenger’s have made no progress in getting Nelson to sign a new contract with the club.

The Daily Mail previously reported that Real Madrid and PSG were monitoring Nelson due to his contract situation.

The 18-year-old winger has featured 14 times for the Gunners this season with the majority of his appearances coming in the Europa League.

Good move for Arsenal?

No.

Nelson is a talented footballer who is destined to have a bright future in the game, and Wenger would love him to stay at the Emirates as long as possible.

With Monaco joining the race, armed with mouthwatering amounts of money, they could easily pay above and beyond to get Nelson to their club.

It’s a real concern that the teenage sensation is yet to sign a new contract with the Gunners.

Likely to happen?

The longer Nelson fails to sign a new contract, the more likely he is to leave.

The Gunners will not want to see the teenager depart the club on a free transfer and if he clearly has no intention of signing a new deal, it makes sense to sell him in the summer.

Monaco seem like they could have the edge over Real Madrid and PSG when it comes to signing the teenager, as they could promise him more first-team opportunities than those two clubs.
