Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is considering a summer swoop for £14million-rated Amiens midfielder Tanguy Ndombele, according to The Sun.

The newspaper claim that the the 21-year-old midfield enforcer, who has shone this season on loan at Lyon, is considered one of France’s brightest prospects, and is being tipped for a senior international call-up soon.

The Sun report that Wenger deployed a scout to watch the midfielder as Lyon crashed out of the Europa League last week to CSKA Moscow, who are incidentally the Gunners’ quarter-final opponents.

It is said that Wenger is considering the swoop with Jack Wilshere and Aaron Ramsey’s futures both being uncertain at the Emirates.

Good move for Arsenal?

Yes.

With Wilshere and Ramsey uncertain to be at the club next season, Wenger will need to bring in some central midfield replacements.

Ndombele has shown during his season on loan at Lyon that he is ready for a step up in competition, and his combative style would perfectly suit the Premier League.

This is clearly a player destined for big things, and Arsenal would do well to be the first in line to take him to the Emirates this summer.

Likely to happen?

The Sun report that Lyon have the option to buy Ndombele for £7.2million plus add-ons this summer, so it would look like a permanent move there is likely.

However, if Arsenal were to come in with a bigger offer, it could be possible that would be enough to secure his services ahead of Lyon.

First the Gunners must wait and see what happens regarding Wilshere and Ramsey, with both potentially signing new deals or leaving the club in the coming months.
