Liverpool midfielder Emre Can has revealed that his agent has blocked all transfer and contract negotiations until the end of the season.

As reported by The Sun, Can is yet to decide where his future lies as his contract runs out this summer, with Liverpool tabling several offers of a new deal for the Germany international.

The newspaper claim that Bayern Munich and Juventus are chasing the 24-year-old, who joined the Reds for £10million from Bayer Leverkusen in 2014.

It is said that Juventus issued an ultimatum to Can, saying that he must make a decision on his future soon or they would end their interest, but the midfielder has now made the massive revelation that his agent has blocked all talks.

As quoted by The Sun, Can said: “My agent has blocked all the negotiations, I’m thinking only of football. Of course, I have to think about my footballing future.

“I haven’t signed for any other club, I’m just focused on this season. We want to finish in second place in the Premier League, we’re in the Champions League quarter-finals and we want to progress. That’s all I’m focused on now.”

Can has made 164 appearances for Liverpool in his time at Anfield, scoring 14 goals and providing 12 assists, and has become a key player for the club under Jurgen Klopp.

OPINION

Can’s move to block all negotiations looks a good one from a Liverpool perspective. First of all it will allow him to focus all his energy on helping the club achieve their aims in the final few months of the season. Secondly, it would seemingly increase their chances of keeping the midfielder past this summer. There were previous reports to suggest that Can had already decided to join Juventus, but those are obviously not true, and if Liverpool were to go on and potentially win the Champions League, that would surely mean that Can would decide to stay on.
