David Prutton has predicted Leeds United to beat Sheffield Wednesday 2-1 at Elland Road when the sides meet on Saturday.

In his predictions for Sky Sports, the pundit revealed that he thought both sides needed to start doing better but backed Leeds to do just enough in order to get all three points when the sides play.

“Two of my former clubs face off at Elland Road – Wednesday need to ensure they aren’t dragged into a very late-season relegation fight, while with Leeds you feel that it’s more about Paul Heckingbottom being able to assess how good his squad is between now and the end of the season,” said Prutton.

“I think Leeds will come out on top here, but both clubs need to do better.”

Heckingbottom’s side go into this game sat 13th in the Championship, five places above Sheffield Wednesday.

When the two sides met at Hillsborough earlier in the season, the Owls hammered the Whites 3-0.

OPINION

Sheffield Wednesday swept Leeds aside in October and the Whites should be looking to avenge that scoreline. The Owls haven’t won any of their last seven games across all competitions and should be low in confidence. While Heckingbottom’s side haven’t exactly been in stellar form themselves, they should have more than enough to get the win on Saturday. It’s time that several players in the Leeds’ team prove to their new manager, that they should be part of his plans next season. The Whites don’t really have much riding on this game as they’re too far off the play-off positions and should have enough points to stop them from being dragged into the relegation battle.
