David Prutton has predicted Aston Villa’s game with Hull City to end as a 2-2 draw when the two sides meet on Saturday.

The Sky Sports pundit shared that he thought after two “desperate” defeats in a row that the Villans wouldn’t defeat the Tigers, and that they didn’t look capable of earning automatic promotion to the Premier League this season.

“Hull looked to be climbing away from danger until that thumping at Birmingham before the international break, and it doesn’t take long to get dragged back into trouble in this division,” said Prutton in his predictions for Sky Sports.

“Aston Villa, meanwhile, suffered two desperate defeats in a row and it’s starting to look like automatic promotion may be beyond them. Score draw for me.”

Steve Bruce’s side go into Saturday’s game seven points off Cardiff City, who currently occupy the last automatic promotion spot.

OPINION

The most disappointing thing about the Villans’ last two defeats is that they came after a memorable victory over league leaders Wolves. Bruce’s side tore the league leaders apart in order to beat them 4-1 at Villa Park. The Villans looked like they were set to compete for automatic promotion, but after the recent defeats, it’s hard not to agree with Prutton’s assessment of their chances. The Villans are seven points behind Cardiff and they have played a game more. It’s seems that the Villans only chance of being in the Premier League next year is to win the play-offs, but everyone knows that’s easier said than done. Bruce’s side will also no doubt have to feature in the play-offs with Fulham, who currently look capable of easily beating any team in the division.
