Steve Bruce revealed that he believes John Terry, Glenn Whelan and Mile Jedinak had all done well this season at Aston Villa.

The Villans boss highlighted the trio when discussing his side’s chances of winning promotion this season, and revealed that his experienced players were vital to his side’s success.

“His (Terry) name on the team-sheet certainly helps us, he will be good for us I am sure in the remaining games,” stated Bruce as quoted by the Daily Mirror.

“People like Glenn Whelan, Mile Jedinak and John Terry in particular have been there done it and worn the t-shirt.

“The more you have of them the better, the reason I brought them here was not just to handle big games but to handle Aston Villa.

“They have done that fantastically well all season.”

The Villans currently sit third in the Championship with 69 points after beating league leaders Wolves 4-1 on Saturday.

Steve Bruce’s side are next in action on Tuesday as they host Queens Park Rangers at Villa Park.

OPINION

Bruce may be quick to praise his experienced trio, but it’s unlikely that any of them are capable of doing a job for the Villans next season if they win promotion to the Premier League. Terry is more than likely going to depart the club, whereas Whelan and Jedinak will now stick  around in order to  cover the first team. Whelan and Jedinak have shown their age at times this season, and their performances have led to their team getting some less than stellar results. While it’s nice that Bruce appreciates what the trio offer when it comes to experience, there’s other talent that is more deserving of his praise.
