Newcastle United midfielder Mohamed Diame starred in a surprise 1-0 victory over Manchester United on Sunday and once again silenced his critics.
There has been a large section of Magpies fans that have voiced their frustration with the 30-year-old at regular points of the season.
However, the senior player has really turned a corner with a purple patch of form in recent week and has quickly become a key weapon for manager Rafael Benitez.
The midfield destroyer delivered a phenomenal performance in the Premier League against Man United as his high work-rate proved difficult to handle.
Matt Ritchie scored the winning goal for the hosts, while playmaker Jonjo Shelvey turned in an eye-catching display with some stunning passing.
However, Diame was at the heart of Newcastle’s success with his tackling, intercepting and running power in midfield.
His dirty work of the ball allowed central midfield partner Shelvey to get on the ball and impact the game in the final third.
The duo have quickly managed to build an understanding in the past month and that perfect balance was highlighted with their efforts against Man United.
Diame has shown great bravery to come back from a difficult start to the campaign, where he received a lot of criticism and also struggled to cement his place in the starting XI.
The Senegal international now looks set for an extended run given his shinning form and will hope to keep it up amid a battle against relegation from the Premier League.
