Leeds United saw three points cruelly snatched away from them as Derby equalised in injury time in their Championship clash on Wednesday, and fans have now taken to Twitter to call for Adam Forshaw to be named club captain.

Leeds travelled to Pride Park looking for a win that would thrust them right back into the fight for those precious play-off spots, and got off to a brilliant start as Pierre-Michel Lasogga headed them ahead on 34 minutes.

The Rams then found a way back into the game through Andreas Weimann just before half-time, and the scores remained level until the 79th minute.

Samu Saiz, on for his first appearance since completing a six-match ban for spitting, brilliant waltzed out of defence on the break and found Gjanni Alioski running through, who finished at the second time of asking.

The Whites looked on course for a first win under new boss Paul Heckingbottom until injury time, when an almighty defensive mix-up allowed Kasey Palmer to rifle home his first Derby goal.

Captain Liam Cooper put in another rocky display since his return from a ban himself, and fans have taken the opportunity to call for Forshaw to be handed the armband.

The £4million January signing from Middlesbrough put in another accomplished display in the middle of the park, and fans are obviously beginning to appreciate the 26-year-old’s influence.
