German club RB Leipzig are interested in signing Tottenham attacker Reo Griffiths, according to ESPN FC.

The news outlet claims that the Bundesliga side are big spenders and are lining up a raid for the 17-year-old.

It is understood that Leipzig have been alerted to the Spurs teenager by their new head of recruitment Paul Mitchell, who previously worked at the North London club and is well aware of his talents.

The report details the German side are looking to tap into the English market for their upcoming stars and have identified the Spurs centre-forward being dubbed the next Harry Kane.

Griffiths has been in great touch this season with 20 goals for Spurs’ Under-18s side, which included a hat-trick against rivals Arsenal last weekend.

Good move for Spurs?

In-form Spurs attacker Griffiths is seen as one of the best stars in their academy and they should certainly reject any potential approaches.

The English striker is definitely at the right place to develop into a future first teamer and can obviously look at Kane as the perfect example to follow.

He has a growing reputation given his performances at youth level and senior Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino has shown in the past that he is willing to hand youngsters a first-team chance if they are good enough.

Spurs want to continue producing these first teamers from their academy and Griffiths appears like he could be the next off that production line.

Likely to happen?

It seems unlikely that Spurs would allow highly-rated Griffiths to slip through their fingers and he is expected to become a future first-team player.
