Three Things Learned From Tottenham v Juventus

|

Aurier lets his side down

Serge Aurier was one of the few Tottenham players not to cover himself in glory on Tuesday night.

The right-back was the one who gave away a blatant penalty in the first half, which Higuian thankfully missed, as he recklessly brought Alex Sandro down in the box.

While it’s true that Sandro would have been difficult for any full-back to cope with, Aurier still should have done a better job.

The 25-year-old has enough experience not to make rash and reckless tackles and on another night his decision to bring Sandro down could have really cost his team.

Aurier received a yellow card in the second half of the game, and as it was his third booking of the competition, the defender is now suspended for the second leg of the tie.

But based on his performance on Tuesday, he might have been dropped by Pochettino for the second leg anyway.
