James Tavernier extended his stay at Ibrox on Wednesday evening – and Rangers fans on Twitter were thrilled with the news.
The Gers confirmed on their official website that the mainstay defender has signed a new three and a half year deal with the Gers.
He is now under contract with the Light Blues until the summer of 2021 and has been a key player under manager Graeme Murty recently.
Tavernier’s new deal comes shortly after he captained Rangers for the first time at the weekend in the Scottish Cup win against Ayr United.
The right-back has become renowned for being an attack-minded defender and proved that with his brilliant displays during the promotion season in 2015/16.
He managed 15 goals and 23 assists when the Gers sealed promotion from the Scottish Championship a couple of years ago, which quickly made him a firm favourite with supporters..
Tavernier appears to have rediscovered his attacking edge this campaign in the top flight, scoring six goals and supplying eight assists already across all competitions.
Rangers fans on social media are overjoyed that the Englishman has penned a new deal with the club and believe he will play an integral role in the team moving forward.
