West Ham are planning to bid £15million for Celtic loanee Patrick Roberts in the summer, according to The Sun.

The newspaper claim that the Hammers are set to compete with Leicester City for his signature, after the Foxes tried to get him at the club as part of a deal which would have seen Riyad Mahrez join Manchester City.

The Sun report that the 21-year-old will be allowed to leave the current league leaders in the summer for the right price.

The newspaper’s report also shares that Manchester City man Roberts was on David Moyes’ radar in January but the Hammers didn’t make a move.

Roberts is currently on loan at Celtic and in his third campaign with the Scottish giants, and the midfielder has made 12 appearances this season.

Roberts’ appearances have been limited this season due to a thigh injury, but the 21-year-old has still managed to impress and grab a goal in his outings.

Last season the 21-year-old who can play as an attacking midfielder or on the right-side of the pitch, registered 19 assists in 47 appearances.

Good move for West Ham?

Yes. This is the type of playing they should be signing.

Roberts is young, talented and has a lot of experience courtesy of his loan spells at Celtic in recent seasons.

If the Hammers can secure him for a fee in the region of £15million, then it would be a great investment as his value will no doubt dramatically rise if he proves himself in the Premier League.

Likely to happen?

It has good chance of happening.

It seems likely that Roberts’ time at Manchester City could be coming to end as he has only made three appearances for them since joining from Fulham in 2015.

However once everyone knows that Roberts is available to buy, West Ham will have to battle several clubs to capture his signature.
