Patrice Evra is set to have a medical at West Ham after agreeing terms with the club, according to a reliable journalist.

Sky Sports Italy correspondent Gianluca Di Marzio has reported on his personal website that the 36-year-old is set to have medical on Wednesday morning ahead of joining the club on a free transfer.

Di Marzio shared that Evra is expected to sign a deal with the Hammers on Wednesday following the successful competition of a medical.

The 36-year-old left Marseille in November by mutual consent, according to the BBC, after Evra was given a seven month ban by UEFA for kicking a fan.

The left-back previously played under David Moyes at Manchester United and has lots of Premier League experience as he made 273 appearance for the English giants during an eight-year-spell with them.

Good move for West Ham?

Yes. The left-back will add vital experience to the squad even if he is unable to overtake Aaron Cresswell in the pecking order.

Evra’s experience will help the Hammers in their fight against relegation as they’re currently only three points clear of the drop zone.

Also with the transfer costing the Hammers nothing other than the player’s wages, Evra is worth taking a risk on.

Likely to happen?

Yes. Di Marzio is a reliable source of information and as he is reporting that a medical is scheduled, then this deal is set to happen.

Also with Moyes knowing Evra from his time at Manchester United, it likely made the deal an easy one to get done as both parties knew what to expect from each other as they had previously worked together.
