Manchester United are eyeing up a summer swoop for Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Victor Wanyama, according to the Daily Mail.

The newspaper report that the Premier League giants have been put on alert by the fact that the Kenya international has been used sparingly since returning from injury.

The Mail claim that the Red Devils believe Wanyama may be willing to move to Old Trafford, but see Spurs chairman Daniel Levy as the biggest obstacle to a possible move.

It is said that Wanyama would cost £40million, and that Liverpool are also interested in the 26-year-old.

Good move for Tottenham Hotspur?

No.

Wanyama may be yet to find his best form since returning from injury, but the Kenyan destroyer is still a valuable asset to this team.

Last season the 26-year-old was one of the club’s standout performers, and there is no reason why he cannot rediscover that kind of form in the coming weeks.

Furthermore, selling to a direct rival would make such a more even more idiotic, and there is no doubt that Wanyama would strengthen United’s midfield.

Likely to happen?

Probably not.

Daniel Levy, as reported, is one of the toughest negotiators in the game, and is very unlikely to sanction such a move to a rival.
