As Real Madrid’s season continues to go from bad to worse, it looks as though Zinedine Zidane has made a big decision regarding the future of one star.

As reported by Spanish outlet AS, Zidane will offload 25-year-old midfielder Isco, provided the Frenchman survives as manager until next season.

The newspaper claim that Zidane has been massively disappointed by Isco’s performances in midfield for Los Blancos, since the departure of James Rodriguez to Bayern Munich.

Journalist Josep Pedrerol is quoted as saying: “Isco was deemed as to more of a pivotal player than Colombian [Rodriguez] but has had a discreet and underwhelming season so far.

“Zidane is a huge admirer of Isco’s style of play and what he can offer the team and for this reason opted to keep faith in the player deeming that he would be instrumental in the creative play of the side.

“After a quiet season so far, Zidane feels let down by the player and as things currently stand will request that the club offload the player in the summer transfer market should the French coach remain on the Santiago Bernabeu bench next season.”

Despite Isco’s poor form for Madrid this season, there is no doubting one thing here.

Real’s loss will be someone’s gain, and Mauricio Pochettino must launch an audacious swoop to bring the midfield maestro to Tottenham Hotspur.

Let’s not forget that Isco has been heavily linked to a move to Spurs in the past, with AS themselves previously reporting that Pochettino launched a charm offensive to try and lure him to north London last January.

It was said that Isco wanted to remain at the Bernabeu to nail down a starting place, after becoming somewhat of a regular last season.

The former Malaga man has indeed managed to do that, but it seems as though Zidane is underwhelmed by what he has seen from Isco, and it may be time that he moves on to pastures new.

Provided that Spurs make the Champions League spots this season, which admittedly will not be easy, then the club will be a massively attractive prospect to top players this summer.

Spurs are about to move into their state-of-the-art new stadium, and have a young team full of potential who will (possibly) be playing in the Champions League.

There is no reason that they will not be able to bring in players of Isco’s calibre, and if he is indeed shunted out of Madrid, then Pochettino must be quick to bring him in.

The Spain international would be the player to take Spurs to another level in attack, and would provide the competition for Christian Eriksen that the club have needed for a long while.

He has great experience in La Liga and the Champions League, and would make the Spurs front line one of the most feared in English football.

The statement made by his signing would also be huge, and would truly alert other clubs to Tottenham’s arrival on the big stage for years to come.

Pochettino must be quick however, as there will undoubtedly be a hotly-contested race on for his signature.
