Tottenham Hotspur target Malcom has claimed that he has an agreement in place with current club Bordeaux that will allow him to leave this summer.

The 20-year-old speed machine was a January target for Spurs as Mauricio Pochettino looked to bolster his attack last month, but the Lilywhites ended up signing Lucas Moura for £25million from PSG.

Malcom has been in scintillating form for Bordeaux this campaign, scoring eight goals and laying on six assists in 24 Ligue 1 appearances, and that has alerted Spurs, Arsenal and Manchester United to the speedster.

Speaking to Brazilian outlet UOL Esporte, Malcom has now confirmed that he will leave Bordeaux at the end of the season.

“I’ve already told you that I wanted to be out to pursue new goals. But I also have to remember that Bordeaux helped me a lot. I gave them my word that I would continue to have more time to think about which club I will play. Those three or four months will make a lot of difference.

“Yes, there was a promise that I will be negotiating in June. I will choose the team, and Bordeaux will release me,” he said.

UOL correspondent Marcus Alves had reported in January that Malcom flew to London for talks with the Tottenham hierarchy, with a deal potentially worth £50million on the cards.

A move did not materialise in the end, but it looks as though Malcom will be on his way this summer, and it is yet to be seen if Spurs will go back in for the winger.

OPINION

Malcom’s assertion that he will leave Bordeaux this summer will excite Tottenham fans. It looked as though a deal may be struck for the 20-year-old in January, but that never happened, and a summer move remains on the cards. His claim that he will choose the club is an interesting one, as he was reportedly excited to join Spurs after his meetings with Pochettino in London. If Spurs do still want him in the coming months, then it does seem likely that he may choose the Lilywhites.
