Hugo Lloris has backed Lucas Moura to do well at Tottenham and is convinced his speed, technical ability and talent for finding space mark him out as special.

The Spurs goalkeeper revealed that he knew of the Brazilian winger ahead of him joining the club from Paris St Germain due to his interest in the French league.

“I know him, of course, as I follow the French league and he has a different profile which will help us,” said Lloris in an interview with The Guardian, as he outlined the three qualities that make him stand out.

“It is true that he hasn’t played often this season with PSG but it is for different reasons, not sporting reasons.

“He is a great talent, he loves the space, is very sharp and quick and is good technically.

“I think he is going to adapt very quickly and very well in our system.”

Moura, who can play on either flank, hardly featured for PSG this season making only six appearances across all competitions.

The BBC previously reported that the winger cost Spurs £25million and that he signed five-year-contract with the club.

OPINION

Lloris is certainly full of praise for his new teammate and seems to be very confident that Moura will do well at Tottenham. Spurs supporters and Lloris alike will be hopeful that Moura hits the ground running as he has the potential to help them progress in the Champions League as well as lift the FA Cup this season. The Brazilian will also be vital to Tottenham finishing in the top-four and could help them move closer to achieving that target if he has an impressive debut against Liverpool on Sunday. If Spurs defeat the Reds at Anfield they will move into the top-four, with Jurgen Klopp’s side falling out of it. However, Mauricio Pochettino may opt not to hand Lucas his debut on Sunday as he has hardly had time to train with his new teammates as he only joined the club on Wednesday.
