Ledley King has warned Tottenham that they must be clinical in front of goal when they face Juventus on Tuesday night in the Champions League.

Spurs travel to Turin for the first leg of their last 16 clash with Italian heavyweights Juventus.

Mauricio Pocehttino’s side go into the match on the back of a 1-0 win over North London rivals Arsenal at the weekend, with Harry Kane’s goal earning three points in the Premier League.

However, they dominated the contest for large spells and were guilty of missing several clear opportunities in front of goal.

Ex-Spurs defender King has claimed that his former side can’t afford to be so wasteful in the final third when they face Juventus.

The Serie A club have a sensational record of 15 clean sheets in their last 16 games across all competitions, making them one of the meanest defences in world football.

“Spurs were the winners in this weekend’s North London derby thanks to Harry Kane’s header four minutes after the break,” King wrote for Seven of the Best.

“It should have been a more resounding scoreline though, with Petr Cech keeping the Gunners in it with a defiant performance.

“Spurs will need to be a lot more clinical in-front of goal in their upcoming Champions League tie against Juventus, who have not yet conceded a goal in 2018.”

OPINION

Spurs should be thrilled if they come away with a draw in their first match against Juventus and remain in the contest, but the importance of an away goal can’t be understated. The Italian side may be very well drilled defensively, but Pochettino’s side do possess the attacking firepower to ask serious questions. Kane has netted 32 goals in 33 appearances across all competitions and is now renowned as one of the best centre-forwards in the business. Spurs looked impressive during the group stages of the Champions League and there task now is to try go deep into the competition. Juventus are seasoned professional in Europe’s elite club competition, but they would have been concerned when they were drawn against Spurs.
