Tottenham Hotspur star Lucas Moura will get a chance to make a late run for the Brazil World Cup squad as national scouts attend their Champions League clash with Juventus, according to The Sun.

The newspaper claim that Brazilian coach Silvinho will be in Turin to keep tabs on Moura, along with Juventus stars Alex Sandro and Douglas Costa.

Lucas, 25, has not played for Brazil since winning the last of his 36 caps in 2016, and was not a part of the Selecao’s squad for the last World Cup in 2014.

It is said that Lucas is hoping to make an instant impact for Spurs in an attempt to forge an unlikely path into Tite’s plans ahead of the World Cup this summer.

Brazil have friendlies scheduled against hosts Russia and defending champions Germany at the end of March.

OPINION

Lucas may be left disappointed in his attempt to force his way into the Brazil squad, as Mauricio Pochettino is not expected to start him against Juventus. The winger has reportedly worked hard in training this week, and was named on the bench for the first time against Arsenal at the weekend. Still, he is not expected to start against Juve as Pochettino will most likely stick with his preferred attacking four. The Brazilian speed machine may however get some minutes depending on how the game is going for Spurs.
