Mauricio Pochettino will be on Paris Saint Germain’s shortlist of replacements for Unai Emery if they sack the manager, according to the Daily Mirror.

The newspaper claim that Emery’s job is in jeopardy after losing 3-1 to Real Madrid in the Champions League and that the French giants wouldn’t be reluctant to fire their manager if they’re knocked out of the tournament.

The Daily Mirror report that PSG’s multi billionaire owner Nasser Al-Khelaifi would be willing to open his checkbook to sign one of the best managers in the game, and is considering Pochettino as well as Jose Mourinho.

Pochettino has been in charge of Spurs since May 2014 and is contracted to the club until 2021.

The Argentinian manager has yet to win a trophy with Tottenham but did guide them to finishing runners-up in the Premier League in the 2016/17 season.

OPINION

Tottenham can’t afford to lose Pochettino as he is key to their success. The manager seems to have molded a team capable of winning major honours over the next few seasons. Pochettino is now doubt willing to stay at Spurs in order to ensure his team deliver silverware as he has put a lot of effort into creating a team worthy of trophies. The 45-year-old could lead Tottenham to winning a trophy this season with them still in the FA Cup and Champions League. The FA Cup is arguably a more achievable trophy for the side to win during this campaign, but Spurs will have to focus on overcoming Rochdale when they meet on Sunday.
