Paul Merson has predicted Tottenham to draw when they travel to Liverpool at the weekend for a huge Premier League clash.

Spurs are currently fifth in the Premier League and will move ahead of third-placed Liverpool if they beat them at Anfield

Mauricio Pochettino’s side are currently chasing down the top four spots and their 2-0 win over Manchester United in midweek certainly boosted them.

They beat their upcoming Merseyside opponents 4-1 in the previous meeting back in October and both teams love to play an attacking style of football.

It will also be a clash of the league’s two top scores as Harry Kane (21) and Mohamed Salah (19) clash.

Sky Sports pundit Merson has been unable to split them in his prediction and has tipped a 2-2 scoreline.

“Both teams have a go – they don’t know any other way,” Merson wrote in his column for Sky Sports.

“It’s difficult to go against Liverpool at home but when you watch Spurs, and they play like they did against United, they were absolutely outstanding.

“The way they passed the ball and moved it around the pitch was exceptional. I’m going to go for goals and a 2-2 draw. “

OPINION

Spurs should have huge confidence heading into their game against Liverpool and if they match the efforts they showed against Man United they could be too much to handle. When the likes of Kane, Christian Eriksen and Heung-Min Son are on top of their game, Pochettino’s side have been a joy to watch this season. On the flip side Liverpool have also been scintillating going forward and proved that in their recent win against champions-elect Manchester City. However, Jurgen Klopp’s side continue to look vulnerable at the back despite the arrival of Virgil van Dijk for £75million and it’s likely that Spurs will get chances in front of goal at the weekend.
