Liverpool have submitted a £131million bid for Real Madrid’s Marco Asensio, according to Don Balon.

The Spanish football outlet claim that the Reds recently submitted the huge offer for the 22-year-old on ‘the table of’ Real Madrid president Florentino Pérez , who has asked them to wait until June for a decision.

Don Balon report that Liverpool face a problem with their pursuit of the winger, as Asensio would rather join Chelsea.

The winger has made 32 appearances across all competitions for the Spanish giants this season, scoring eight goals and registering four assists.

However, Asensio has barely featured in Real Madrid’s last six league games after struggling to break back into the team following an injury.

Good move for Liverpool?

Yes.

Asensio is a fantastic player who can make an instant impact on the Reds’ first-team, and he is well worth paying £131million for.

Liverpool are still armed with the funds from selling Philippe Coutinho to Barcelona for £142million, according to the BBC, and shouldn’t be scared to spend a large sum on a player like Asensio.

The Spanish international is only 22-years-old so despite being capable of walking straight into Liverpool’s team , he is also a player who can be signed with the future in mind.

Likely to happen?

No.

The offer may be huge but Real Madrid would be foolish to let the talented winger go.

Zinedine Zidane blocked any player leaving the club in January, but whose to say if the Frenchman will be one making the decisions in the summer.

Zidane’s future at Real Madrid looks in jeopardy and if a new manager took over in the summer, they probably would not be keen to see Asensio leave the club.

Also if Asensio was to leave the club, he apparently wants to go Chelsea and the Reds’ Premier League rivals are more than capable of matching Liverpool’s valuation of the winger.
