Roma goalkeeper Alisson would prefer a summer switch to Liverpool over Real Madrid and Paris St-Germain, according to UOL Esporte.

The Brazilian outlet report that the 25-year-old stopper has already held talks with the Reds about a move to Anfield, and those conversations are more advanced than with Euro giants Real and PSG.

UOL claim that Alisson is set to become the most expensive goalkeeper in history, surpassing the world-record £34.7million that Manchester City paid for his Brazil teammate Ederson Moraes in the summer.

Alisson joined Roma for £7million from Internacional in the summer of 2016, and has gone on to make 47 appearances for the club, becoming Brazil’s number one during his time there.

Good move for Liverpool?

Absolutely.

It is quite clear to see that the Reds are in dire need of a new goalkeeper, with the calamitous Simon Mignolet having occupied the position in recent years.

Loris Karius has recently overtaken him as number one, but there is little to suggest that he has what it takes to be anywhere near as consistent as Liverpool need their shot stopper to be.

Alisson is one of the best in the world at the moment, illustrated by the fact that he is preferred to Manchester City’s Ederson for Brazil.

Likely to happen?

It had looked like Alisson’s price tag was to deter Liverpool, but with the player now reportedly keen, the Reds may be encouraged to reignite their chase.

There is no doubt that Alisson will not come cheap, but as long as Roma are reasonable, then Liverpool may be persuaded to part with serious cash for the 25-year-old.
