Liverpool and Arsenal will go head-to-head this summer for Stoke City goalkeeper Jack Butland, according to The Sun.
The newspaper claim that Jurgen Klopp wants to make the 24-year-old the number one at Anfield, with Stoke rating Butland at around £40million.
The Sun claim that Simon Mignolet is ready to walk away from the club after holding talks with Klopp following his axe as first-choice stopper, while there remain doubts about Loris Karius as well.
It is said that Arsene Wenger wants Butland to replace Petr Cech, who will be 36 by the time next season rolls around.
Good move for Liverpool?
Butland has proved himself a consistent performer at the top level, and looks ready to move on from Stoke, who don’t seem to be going anywhere fast.
The England international needs to be given a bigger stage to showcase his talent, which has been obvious from a young age, and Anfield would be a good place to do so.
Klopp’s doubts about his current options comes as no surprise, with Mignolet nor Karius inspiring any kind of confidence between the sticks.

Likely to happen?
Butland has made it no secret that he has ambitions to play at the highest level.
After overcoming a troublesome ankle injury, he has proved this season that he is ready for that step up, and this summer looks like the time it will happen.
Liverpool will have a big fight on their hands, with Arsenal also looming but other clubs sure to come in to the frame as well, but there is a chance he will end up at Anfield.
