Tottenham may have been handed a major boost ahead of the game against Juventus on March 7 as Gonzalo Higuain limped off against Torino on Sunday, according to Goal.

The website report that the 30-year-old forward lasted less than 20 minutes in the game against Torino, having looked like he had sustained an ankle injury.

Goal report that Higuain appeared to injure his ankle as he landed awkwardly after hurdling goalkeeper Salvatore Sirigu, and despite receiving treatment was unable to continue.

It’s unknown how long the injury will keep him out for but Juventus’ crucial Champions League clash against Spurs is only 17 days away.

Higuain was one of the Italian giants’ best players in the first leg against Spurs on Tuesday, as he grabbed both goals to help his side draw 2-2.

OPINION

The 30-year-old centre-forward showed his ability to score in the first leg against Tottenham, and Spurs will be relieved to hear that they might not have to deal with him in the game at Wembley. Higuain is always liable to get on the score sheet due to his tremendous ability and experience playing at the top level. While Tottenham may feel even more confident about beating the Italian giants at Wembley without Higuian playing, they know that they’re capable of beating Juventus even if he plays. It’s just that their task would be a whole lot easier without him featuring. Only time will tell to see if the veteran striker is able to shake off his apparent ankle injury.
